30 Days of yoga

Recently I saw this post on vivianna does makeup about a 30 days of yoga with Adriene which sounds like a really good idea and could be the kick up the bum I need to get me back into exercising, the playlist can be found on youtube here.

I watched the start here video then completed the yoga for complete beginners video and really enjoyed it, Adriene suggests to go through it in the start here video if you haven't done yoga for a while and just want to check in with your body or your emotional body has been through a lot and you want to ease back into yoga which definetely applies to me at the moment. I have started today and will try to fit in every day for the month and see how I go.

I have done yoga before both classes and dvd's at home and have always enjoyed it (apart from sun salutations which seem to leave me with heartburn if I do too many repetitions) I just never seemed to get into a routine I could stick to. I've got the mat, suitable workout clothes and I'm lucky that I am fairly flexible but I'm hoping it will be more helpful for my mind which is a little frazzled at the mo.

I'm feeling quite excited at the moment so I will update with how I get on after the first week.

Project 333

If you google what is project 333 you get this answer - Project 333 is a minimalist fashion challenge that invites you to dress with 33 items or less for 3 months. I have read a lot about project 333 over the last 4 years and wanted to give it a go quite a few times but never got round to it with one thing an another, the boys, 4 stone weight loss, dealing with becoming a single Mum. Thankfully everything is more settled now and my weight has been steady for the last 2 and a half years so I am going to commit to giving it a go now.

I don't have a lot of storage for my clothes so since living here I have a separate winter and summer wardrobe with the out of season clothes stored in vacuum bags under my bed (mostly because I haven't got a ladder to get into my loft). The trouble I always seem to have is that I get sick of all my summer or winter clothes and want to get the other set out after about 3 months so the idea of having a small capsule of clothes that I can change every 3 moths is very appealing, I have also noticed recently I keep buying clothes without really needing them and still I never seem to have anything to wear.

I really like H&M for clothes but they just don't seem to last very long so I am thinking once I have everything sorted for this 3 months I should look into replacing any items that wear out with something slightly more expensive in the hope they will wear a bit better, it is mostly little holes in tops I have the trouble with.

So in the next few days I am going to sort out my 33 items for March, April and May. During these months I am going to Mum's for lunch Easter Monday so I would like to dress up a little and we are all going away on a long weekend Sun holiday at the end of April so I will have to take both into account when planning what clothes to put in.

I'm hoping to have sorted out my 33 by the end of the week I will let you know how I get on and what I have picked.

Skincare

I have to confess I'm a little bit of a skin care obsessive I have far too many products in my bathroom and still my skin is far from perfect. I have been very lazy in the past with my routine going through phases of doing nothing to probably doing too much (an incident a few years ago with an at home lactic acid peel springs to mind, oh the shame) I have been fairly consistent recently and I do think my skin looks better for it.

My skin is combination leaning towards dry because its winter, I tend to get spots mostly on my cheeks and along my jaw but I suspect that is mostly down to my diet not being great.

At the moment I am currently using

Morning

Liz Earle instant boost skin tonic
La Roche-posay Hydarphase eyes
Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum
Avene Antirougeurs Jour

Evening

The body shop pomegranate softening cream cleanser
Clearasil pads (if I'm not exfoliating any other way)
Liz Earle instant boost skin tonic
La Roche-posay Hydarphase eyes
Estee Lauder ANR/pepta bright/ retonol reface or ren omega 3 serum oil depending on what I feel I need
Trilogy Rosapene Night Cream

I'm mostly happy with this routine, I need to get a new toner as I am nearly out so I'm on the lookout for something that is more moisturising and I don’t completely love the body shop cleanser I will continue using it until something else catches my eye or boots has another 3 for 2 on skincare (which I think they do now).

Burgers

I found some mince in the supermarket in the reduced bit so decided to make some burgers for us all on Friday. I prefer to make my own burgers as I'm a fussy eater and like to know what has gone into them. I can't post a proper recipe as my scales have decided to conk out on me so I will just list what goes into them for now

450g mince (I prefer steak mince if it is available)
Bread crumbs *
2 tbsp Parmesan cheese finely grated
1 egg
1 tsp Smoked paprika
Salt and pepper

* I use the crusts of bread that the boys don't like eating, whizz them up and freeze them in a bag so I can use as much as I need for chicken nuggets, burgers or meatballs.

I mix the bread crumbs, cheese, paprika, salt and pepper together then pop that into a bowl with the mince then I crack and egg on top and mix it all up with my hands and finally shape into burgers using my burger squasher but you could just use your hands.

I got 6 burgers out of this so I used 4 for our dinner and popped the rest into the freezer for another day. We had the burgers with wedges and corn on the cob.
